The first and most common cause is improper drainage around the house.  If water is allowed to accumulate by the foundation, you can be sure that some of it may seep into your basement through cracks in your concrete.  Make sure you have a way for water ... Sunday, June 19, 2011 - Housing stats for May

Here is a quick rundown of the housing stats  for Calgary in May First, I will explain what the difference is between average price and median price.  Average is when you add up all the prices, then divide by the number of prices.  Example:  if you had three houses sold in May and their prices were $250,000 $400,000 and $800,000 you would add them up to get a total of $1,450,000 .  Then you would divide by three to get an average price of $483,333 . Think about the last time you went shopping for a home and visualize the things that turned you off.  When you pulled up to the house with your realtor, was the grass cut and were the bushes neatly trimmed? Curb appeal is the first thing to worry about - if the buyer doesn't like what they see ... Full Article...

Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - Maximum amortization is changing from 35 years to 30 years

Don't forget that the government has changed the rules regarding the maximum amortization periods from 35 years to 30 years.  To get the 35 year amortization you must have a signed and accepted offer on a property by March 18th 2011.  A preapproval that extends past March 18th will not work - you must have an accepted offer, although there can be conditions that will be satisfied after March 18th. If you want to refinance, after March 18th, you will only be able to get 85% of the value of your ... Full Article...
