Map of Bridlewood

First established in 1998, Bridlewood is one of Calgary’s fastest growing neighborhoods and is a favourite amongst new home buyers. Cuddled at the southwestern edge of Calgary is this relatively new neighborhood of single-family detached homes. It’s been aptly named “Bridlewood” mainly due to its’ location. To the community’s east lies the Bridlewood Creek Wetland, created by the city of Calgary as a stormwater retention pond. The world-renowned Spruce Meadows is located immediately to the community’s south and the neighborhood of Evergreen is situated to Bridlewood’s north.

Public students of Bridlewood attend Midnapore elementary school, Wilma Hansen junior high, and Centennial high school. There are a myriad of Catholic elementary schools located nearby including Montsenor J.J. O’Brien, Mother Theresa, St. Jude, Father Doucet, and St. Catherine. Catholic junior high students attend St. Bonaventure, Ecole St. Matthew, or St. Stephen, and those in high school attend Bishop O’Byrne high.

With plenty of open spaces and a number of pathways that weave in and out of the community, Bridlewood’s main attraction is its’ wetlands which harbor almost two dozen types of birds and an abundance of flora and fauna.

Found in a border community to the north is Shawnessey Center which provides prime shopping opportunity to residents here. It is easily accessible and within walking distance.

There is also a neighborhood Sobeys located on the corner of 162nd Avenue and Bridleridge Way.

Calgary Transit has bus stops peppered throughout the community including on 24th  street, 162nd avenue, and a handful of stops on both Bridleridge Way and Bridlewood Avenue providing an easy way to make it out to see the rest of the city.

Bridlewood is within walking distance proximity to a # of movie theatres, restaurants, a golf course, and Fish Creek park. It’s a prime area for families with multiple neighborhood parks and having been built with nature surrounding it, Bridlewood can make one feel like a bit of an explorer at times. With its’ rural landscape, it makes for an intimate, serene and peaceful escape.

The essentials of everyday living are all within a moment’s notice and matched with the beauty of nature that hugs its’ border, Bridlewood is a community with an ideal location for the escapist in all of us.
