Map of Britannia

What acts as home to the beautiful Riverdale Park, Britannia is a small community of just under 800 residents. Originally annexed to the city of Calgary in 1910 with its’ development beginning in the late 1950s, Britannia is an elegant neighborhood nestled between the magnificent Elbow River and Elbow Drive. The British theme is evident not only in the community’s name but also in its’ street names which include Coronation Drive, Edinburgh Boulevard, and Elizabeth Road.

Homes within the community have views of the city and of the majestic Rocky Mountains which act as a backdrop to much of Britannia’s on-goings.

Public school students are bussed to border community schools including Elbow Park elementary, Rideau Park junior high, Mount Royal junior high, and Henry Wise Wood high school. Catholic school students attend St. Augustine elementary and junior high before graduating to Bishop Grandin high school.

Local merchants come together at Britannia Plaza located off 48th avenue. Here, there are a number of small shops, a Starbucks, and other small amenities. Britannia itself is just 4 kilometres south of Downtown Calgary thus providing an ideal escape from the hustle-and-bustle of the city while still being close enough to make it there on short notice. Elbow Drive provides direct and immediate access to the central core.

The transit system has stops that line Elbow Drive to take you anywhere within the confines of the city.

The Calgary Golf and Country Club is met just south of Britannia and there are also a variety of parks in the area to explore.

These include Stanley park, River park, Crescent park, and Sandy Beach park.

Britannia is a well-developed, mature, and prestigious community that ranks high among its’ residents.
