Elbow Park and Glencoe Real Estate listings and Information
Originally established in 1910 as a neighborhood, Elbow Park has gone on to become one of Calgary’s best. One of the oldest and wealthiest communities of the city, it is bordered by Elbow River with Elbow Drive to the east, Council Way to the north, and 14th street to its’ west. Property here regularly sells for anywhere from $600,000 to more than $10 million. Elbow Park has built a reputation of a quiet and tranquil community that is close to the downtown core, only ten minutes away. With its’ homes that line the banks of the river, a collection of quiet family-friendly amenities, and local restaurants in the Mission area, Elbow Park is a desirable location for those that can afford to settle down.
The Elbow Park elementary and William Reid bilingual elementary schools are found right in the community of Elbow Park encouraging a lot of first-time parents to settle in here. After graduating elementary, public school students attend Rideau Park or Mount Royal junior high, and then finally, off to Western Canada senior high school they go. The Catholic students attend St. Augustine elementary and junior high before graduating from Bishop Grandin senior high school.
The community is very family-friendly and its’ amenities appeal is evident of this. With playgrounds, a skating rink, hockey rinks, tennis courts, a summer Movie Night In The Park, and its’ convenient location to schooling, it’s extremely accommodating to those that are looking for an area where they can raise a family. Most of the properties here are single-family detached homes with 95% of real estate in the area belonging to the homeowner – very little of it is used for renting.
Transportation is easy to get to with Calgary Transit stops along Elbow Drive, 14th street, and on 10th street and 36th avenue right in the heart of Elbow Park.
There are many shops that perpetuate 17th avenue just a little North of the community and the downtown core is easily accessible from anywhere in Elbow Park.
Many of Elbow Park’s original homes have been greatly renovated and remain standing.
With Elbow Park, you get a piece of Calgary history, a location that is convenient for family and professionals alike, and the opportunity to enjoy the advantages of a smaller community while remaining close enough to the downtown part of Calgary to enjoy all of its’ vividness.
