Map of Evergreen

One of the largest urban parks in North America at nearly 2,300 acres, the breathtaking Fish Creek Provincial Park, is located in the southwest quadrant of Calgary. Take a look to its’ southern edge and you found the community of Evergreen. It is unique as Evergreen is divided into two sections. You have the older and established Evergreen Estates to its’ north, and actual Evergreen, a newer part of the neighborhood, in its’ south. They comprise of one Calgary community although each section has a separate community association and a different street naming pattern. There is currently development set to erect 1,400 single-family homes on the current Shawnee Slopes Golf Course, which is set to be re-zoned for the re-development.

The students of the area attend the recently opened Evergreen elementary school. They accommodate for all students between Kindergarten and fourth grade. The students of the area also regularly attend Woodman junior high, Harold Panabaker junior high for Grades 7-8, Elboya junior high for Grade 9, and finally Dr. E. P. Scarlet for senior high. There are a myriad of options for Catholic school students with St. Catherine, St. Jude, and St. Stephen all providing elementary school. At the junior high level, we have St. Stephen or Our Lady Of Peace. Finally, Bishop O’Byrne accommodates the area’s Catholic senior high school students.

Fish Creek Provincial Park is nice to have right next to Evergreen with its’ many trails, wildlife, rivers, and ponds. Within the community itself, Evergreen boasts more green space than any other residential area in all of Calgary. With its’ lush parks and continued development, it is a neighborhood with a lot to offer in term of a potential increase in property value.

Evergreen itself falls about halfway between two great shopping centres. There is the Shawnessy Village shopping centre south down MacLeod Trail. This is the closest one out of the two but there’s also Southcentre Mall located north on MacLeod Trail. This is incredibly accommodating for residents of the community.

Calgary Transit provides more than a few handfuls of bus stops in the community along Fish Creek Boulevard, Everridge Drive, and Evergreen Drive amongst others.

Evergreen is a community of just over 20,000 that value green space amongst other things. As it continues to expand and develop, there’s no telling what other benefits the future will bring to the residents of Evergreen.
