Kelvin Grove Real Estate Listings and Information
Ever so slightly east of the Elbow River and just south of the Glenmore Trail is the residential neighborhood of Kelvin Grove. With the Rockyview General Hospital lying immediately to its’ west, the community of Kelvin Grove was originally established in 1960 and has gone on to be recognized for its’ location relative to other Calgary landmarks and attractions. You have the Glenmore Reservoir with its’ boat docks, bike paths, the Weaselhead Flats hiking, and park commonly associated with the area. Kelvin Grove also allows its’ residents to be well-connected with other parts of the city including Calgary’s downtown through Glenmore Trail, Crowchild Trail, and 14th street. The LRT is also nearby; giving residents a handful of routes to use to travel through to the downtown core.
Public school students of the area are served by the Chinook Park elementary school, Woodman junior high, and Henry Wise Wood senior high school – all of which are located all within a few minutes’ drive. The high school is actually located directly in Kelvin Grove – a great bonus for those with children close to that age. Catholic school students are afforded the same advantage with St. Augustine elementary and junior high, and Bishop Grandin high school being found in bordering neighborhoods. A family friendly community, Kelvin Grove offers its’ residents recreational opportunities found to its’ immediate borders as well as giving its’ pre-adult residents access to schools nearly all mainly within walking distance.
MacLeod Trail, just a couple minutes’ drive down Glenmore Trail, offers a large variety of local businesses, restaurant chains, grocery stores, and retail outlets to suit all of your shopping needs. There are also a vast array of businesses located right in the north of Kelvin Grove including a steakhouse and lounge, multiple doctor offices and walk-in clinics, and a sports therapy centre.
Transportation is easy to find with Calgary Transit stops set up all along its’ eastern border, Elbow Drive.
The LRT system is also just a few blocks over should you require a fast exit to the downtown core as well.
Kelvin Grove is optimal for a family looking to settle in to a community with recreational opportunities to explore nature, maintain close proximity to educational facilities, and to still be close enough to downtown Calgary to be able to be there at a moment’s notice. This is it. Kelvin Grove is it.
