Map of Parkland

Parkland is a beautiful, well established (1974) southeast Calgary community that comes by its name honestly! Green space and parks are plentiful here. Many Parkland homes lay claim to immediate access to the myriad pathways in Fish Creek Provincial Park which borders the neighborhood on two sides. One of Alberta’s largest and most beautiful nature reserves, the park offers acres of meadows, biking and walking trails and non-stop wildlife viewing.

Highly sought after Parkland homes are spaciously laid out on tranquil residential streets and cul-de- sacs. Properties in Parkland are spacious with good sized back yards and therefore somewhat more costly than homes in neighboring communities such as Deer Ridge and Deer Run.  Average prices in Parkland are around $547,000.

Much of Parkland’s appeal to homebuyers is not only for its vast, pristine natural backdrops but also for its convenient access via major transportation routes to downtown and other parts of the city; Parkland residents have numerous options via Bow Bottom Trail, Canyon Meadows Drive and Macleod Trail. Parkland is a smaller community with a population of around 4,000 which is an attractive feature for many families.

The Parkland community centre is well equipped with meeting rooms, gymnasium and a playschool. It is a spacious venue for a variety of private and community functions such as annual Stampede Hoedown, Halloween parties, and a Winter Festival. Hockey and skating rinks as well as sports fields are available to Parkland families. With its close proximity to Fish Creek Provincial Park, the community is closely associated with the Friends of Fish Creek Park conservancy group, and participates in such events as the annual Bow River cleanup.

There is no shortage of convenient shopping and services for residents of Parkland. Southcentre Mall on Anderson Road has over 120 shops and services; The Lake Bonavista Promenade is minutes away on Lake Bonavista Drive and has a variety of upscale shops and services. Macleod Trail offers a wide range of retail outlets and big box stores. For the golf enthusiast, Canyon Meadows Golf Club is an 18 hole private club on 14th St. S.W. and Maple Ridge Golf Course is a handy 18 hole public course nearby in the community of Maple Ridge.
