Southwest Calgary Homes and Real Estate Information
Southwest Calgary is generally considered to be anything that is west of Macleod trail, and south of the Bow river, and includes most of the downtown core. The Elbow river flows through most of the area, and is connected to the Glenmore reservoir which supplies drinking water to the city. There are numerous parks such as Edworthy Park and Stanley park which provide many recreational activities like tennis, walking, biking and running. There are also many attractions to take in with Spruce Meadows and it’s world class equestrian events, Canada Olympic park, and Heritage park with it’s turn of the century town.
Residents of southwest Calgary are for the most part quite affluent, so houses tend to be quite large and the condos are more luxurious. However, the southwest is the only quadrant that is not being served by the ring road or Stoney trail, and residents will have to wait for years because negotiations with landowners have stalled for decades.
